Female-empowering event in Northwood celebrates International Women’s Day
The role of females in the community will be celebrated at an International Women’s Day event in Northwood.
Based on the theme of equal opportunities and progress for all, the event takes place on Monday, March 8. It will feature guest speakers including the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Shirley Harper-O’Neill, Anna Ashby from Networking Northwood and Debbie David from Harrow Mencap.
There will also be a workshop to enable women to re-evaluate themselves and give them useful tools to move forward in their lives.
The event, which takes place at Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue, in Oaklands Gate, will be hosted by The Northwood Extended School Collaborative – a partnership of three secondary schools and nine primary schools which provide a range of after-school activities to help meet the needs of pupils, their families and the wider community.
Extended Schools Co-ordinator, Justine Campbell said: “This event is an opportunity for us empower local women from the ages of 17 to 70, by listening to a number of inspirational women who have all achieved despite life’s obstacles.”
The event runs from 9.30am – 2.30pm and admission is free.
