Women into Enterpries – International Women’s Day Free Event – Bath

The University of Bath is hosting a series of free inspirational and information talks to celebrate International Women’s Day on Monday, 8 March 2010.

All sessions take place on the University of Bath main campus at Claverton Down.

Behind the Boardroom Door – Cathy Hakes
12.15pm to 1pm in Room 8W 2.13

Cathy Hakes at the age of 32 became the Vice Chair of South Yorkshire Sports Board and she is in Bath to share how she motivated herself to apply for the position, what is involved in being a Vice Chair, what is beneficial about the position and her plans for the future. This is a chance to glimpse behind the door to find out what is involved and see if it is something you would like to try either now or in the future. This will be a talk/discussion format with an interactive role play session to stand in the shoes of a board member.

Managing your career after maternity leave – Dana Mellor
1pm to 1.45pm in Room: 8W 2.13 was founded by Dana Mellor to provide specialist support to parents wanting to develop their careers around their family commitments. Dana will be sharing what made the difference in her own journey from professional jockey to business owner; scenarios of how other women have successfully managed their maternity leave and at least one essential tool to boost women’s confidence and motivation during this crucial phase of many women’s working lives.

Entrepreneur with passion, energy and ethics – Louise Ladbrooke
2pm to 3pm in Room: 4E 3.38

Louise Ladbrooke set up, expanded and subsequently sold a chain of nurseries winning lots of national awards along the way. Louise will share with us her motivations for setting up ‘Bees Knees’, what she attributes to the success of the business and the new projects, skills and ideas are motivating her in 2010. Questions and answers will follow with by tea, coffee and buns provided by the University of Bath’s Equality and Diversity Team. Maybe a few cakes too!
