An exciting event featuring music, song, dance and international cuisine to celebrate International Women’s Day takes place at Stockport Art Gallery on Monday 8th March (5-8pm).

Organised by the Soroptomist International of Stockport, and assisted by Stockport Council, the theme of the innovative evening is community cohesion, with short talks from women from different backgrounds and different countries including Germany, France and Sri Lanka. There will be an opportunity for questions, discussion and networking.

Guests will also have the chance to go to the upstairs gallery houses to view the current exhibition by Alan Lowndes, the renowned Stockport born artist, who is famous for his depiction of Stockport streets, mills, parks and the iconic viaduct.

The Council’s International Liaison Unit worked in partnership with the Soroptomists to submit a successful Lottery bid to fund the free event. Stockport’s twin towns of Béziers and Heilbronn have been invited to make presentations, and they will also visit Hat Works, Staircase House, Stockport Story, and Bramall Hall.

Booking is essential to attend the event.
