International Women’s Day Yorkshire Forward Event

Posted in 2010 03 08, Yorkshire & Humberside by womeninlondon on 20 February 2010

8th March 2010 from 9:00 to 14:00

International Women’s Day has been celebrated since the early 1900’s, in many countries this is a national holiday and sees the sons and husbands doing chores in the house, not so in the UK! So we are celebrating the day our own way; by getting together sharing stories, and supporting each other. This year we have a very exciting line up of speakers who will be sharing their stories and advice. Join us on Monday 8th March at the Met Hotel, Leeds. A 2-course lunch will be served after the speakers as well as a chance to network with speakers and delegates.

Ruby Wax – Ruby is a legend of UK comedy, she started with French and Saunders and reached national fame with her unique interview style. She confronted Imelda Marcos, confounded Donald Trump and got close with Pamela Anderson. Recently Comedy has taken a back seat and she has completed an MSc on Psychotherapy and Neuroscience. She is now putting these two very unique skills together to run workshops for business leaders on communication. Her workshops combine her unique humour with scientific and theoretical learning and involving practical exercises.

Sophi Tranchell MBE – Sophi is a woman with a mission. The sparky managing director of the fair trade chocolate company Divine is determined to spread the word: what you buy can make the world a better place. “Running a company that’s [for the public] good and also does well is a fantastic challenge,”. She will be speaking to us about her passion for her job, how she got to where she is and where she sees business trends taking us in the future.

Tee Dobinson – Tee Dobinson is a motivational speaker who is passionate about helping people become more confident whatever their situation. She knows that an increase in confidence lifts all areas of someone’s personal and professional life and has spent years perfecting a method to help people make the impact they want.
